Our unique cashmere brand is actively breeding and selecting a superior cashmere-producing animal, providing an exclusive product to the world of luxury natural fibres, an ongoing programme of dedication to perfection.
Cashmere goats roaming steep cliff tops overlooking Tolaga Bay, browsing in the valleys on clean, lush, green pastures are selected from wild descendants of animals liberated when Captain Cook first visited these islands in 1769.
The intensive, selective breeding, over 25 years, for the finest white fleece, ha produced superfine cashmere with wonderful qualities of lustre, life and added length, combined with exquisite lightness and warmth. These advantages impart strength and superb softness, movement and drape. Adding new quality standards to the worlds most exclusive and luxurious fibre.
Over a period of 20 years craftswomen in Tolaga Bay have perfected the skill of producing handcrafted garments of exceptional quality. Now with 'state of art' machinery a collaborated effort results in increased production, excellence in composition and exquisite quality. A bespoke service has worldwide customer following.
Combining structural shapes and contemporary innovation through the spectrum of fashion and design, collections continually evolve. Tolaga Bay Cashmere has achieved a reputation among those who understand the pleasure of a treasured garment made in the world's most luxurious fibre.
The company crest is of three Kahawai fish dancing in the waves of the bay. Cashmere goats roam the cliff top area called Tamatakahawai 'the look-out point' for the local Maori when fishing.
